Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

That is, complete understanding is true Awareness. Once you know a little of this and a little of that, you cannot call it Awareness. Since we have been born as human beings, we must learn everything. No one can say what work will be needed by which person, and when. So everyone must have this earnest care. It is not good to push women back, saying they are weak and good for nothing. We must give them too enthusiasm and encouragement. In them too there are many divine powers. There are many hidden powers. There are many powers that no one sees. Seen truly, they are not weak but of great strength. A small example. In the army, the Commander-in-chief is a great officer. When he is coming, all the soldiers tremble. But when he comes home and sees his wife, this Commander-in-chief trembles too. Why such fear? Only because men have this flaw do they fear at the sight of women. There is a headmaster; there is a principal. All the college children, the moment they see them, show great fear and humility. When this principal, who so frightens them, reaches home, the moment he hears, ‘Why have you come half an hour late, sir?’, he takes fright. This has become the nature of men today. Nature of life. That: there must not be so much weakness in them. Since they have taken the name of men, they too must show strength.

Puruṣa means the Ātma. There is no difference of woman and man

What does puruṣa mean? It is not a name that belongs to a male alone. What does puruṣa mean? Consciousness itself bears the name puruṣa, the name Ātma. So they speak of the puruṣārthas. What are the puruṣārthas? Dharma, artha, kāma and Mokṣa. That he has authority over these four: that is not the right meaning. Women too have the right to attain these four powers. The word puruṣa is not a name given merely by shape, by the body. He alone who moves through the city called the body, from the nails to the crown of the head, is puruṣa. That is present in everyone.
