In plain words
Such devotees are no devotees at all. A true devotee must ask for Ānanda alone. In that Ānanda itself everything comes to us. That is why, of God: nityānandaṃ paramasukhadaṃ, kevalaṃ jñānamūrtiṃ. This happiness and all this Jñāna come only from Ānanda. So for what does man pray to God? For Śānti and Ānanda.
Embodiments of Prema! When we inquire into every matter, the one called God is not separate from us. Good and bad alike are the fruit of our own karma, not the grace of God. Whatever seed we sow, that very plant comes up. So whether our result is good or bad, it is not God's grace. They are nothing but the fruits of our karma. Only when man recognises this truth can he understand the Ātma principle, which is divinity. From time without beginning man has been carrying out sādhanas of many kinds. However many sādhanas we do, however many talks we hear, however many books we read, when our vision is not right, everything becomes useless. That is why the Buddha first of all uttered ‘samyak dṛṣṭi’. Every man must recognise vision first of all. That vision itself is creation. This creation comes only from vision; creation is not something separate. As our vision is, so creation begins. In the end the Buddha went on inquiring a great deal. All this time I have done sādhana and made so many kinds of inquiry; at the very last, what have I achieved? I have achieved nothing.
We must change the mind
My mind alone keeps standing in the way of all sādhanas. The mind alone stands in the way of sādhanas of every kind. ‘So I must discover a way to change the mind!’: with this he went on doing sādhana. Then he became free of the mind; only because he became free of the mind did the Ātma principle come to him.
