In the endless universe, among the whole host of living beings, man has attained the very highest state. If man loses wealth, he can earn it again, going through any number of hardships. If he loses a friend, he can still win another friend. If he loses a wife, he can marry a second time and gain another wife. Even if man loses a piece of land, he can win that very land back through many hardships. But man cannot win back his body.

The human body is the most exalted of all. ‘Jantūnāṃ narajanma durlabhaṃ.’ Unable to understand such sacred humanness, man today keeps misusing it. Man makes no attempt at all to understand the divinity that is in man, the sacredness that is in man. However many hours may pass, and in whatever ways, the night that has gone by never comes back to us. The river Yamunā, once merged in the endless ocean, will not come back to us, however we may try. When man has chewed a fruit well and swallowed it, he cannot get it back as that fruit, however many efforts he makes. In such a state, how can he understand humanness?
