In plain words
Prema for God and Service to Society
Many young men enter the military. When they enter the military, they are given all kinds of recruitment for it. Merely by joining the military one cannot hold a gun at once. Those who have joined the military must know two things without fail, that is, they must know how to fire a gun and they must know marching. These two they must know without fail. Watchman, washerman, barber or cook, all of them must know these without fail. In the same way, those who have entered the spiritual path must keep in mind the essence of these two at every age, childhood, youth, adolescence and old age. What are these two? We must love God. We must serve society. Divinity is contained in these two alone. These two are the root cause for taking on sacred humanness and attaining the Godhood that is Divinity. We must bring the essence of these two into our lives.
We must train in this from a young age itself. Only when we do it at this age will a good end come to us in old age. No one can say how long a journey life is. Some time, somewhere, in old age, or in childhood, or in youth: when it will leave, no one knows. Death alone is certain. Only one who is wise and has intelligence can understand this. So, at what minute God's grace will be won — in worldly terms, if we want to take someone's photo, we tell him to stand properly and say ‘Ready’, and when he is just right we take the photo. But this is the way of a worldly photographer. But on the spiritual path, when this God will say ‘Ready’, who knows? When He will come within reach, to fall as a picture within our heart, who knows? We must always be ready.
