Passage 12

In plain words

Tomorrow, if my head goes, you will say that is good too. I must not have a minister like this. Put him in jail,’ he said. That minister, smiling, bowed to his lord and said, ‘This is all for the good.’ So whatever God does is only good; it is never bad. God is pure, spotless and selfless; whatever such a selfless God does is for the good of others, not for Himself, is it not? Trusting in that hardship, we must strengthen the faith that says, ‘Whatever He does is for my own good.’ So in the matter of God we need not take account of this or that. We need not search for this place or that place. Why are you searching? ‘When the wish-fulfilling tree that grants the fruit you desire is there, why this fondness for the tree in the backyard?’ So we need not desire anything else. The wish-fulfilling tree itself is right with us. With good Prema, we must trust God with a single heart and immerse our feeling of Prema in Him. Only then will God's Prema too come to us.

‘I, for my part, love God, but does God love me or not?’ You need not sink into a doubt of that kind. If you really write a registered letter to your friend, what sign will tell you whether it has reached him or not? The acknowledgement comes back. So when the acknowledgement has not come, that means the cover has not reached him. So only when God loves you has your Prema reached God. There is no telling what your Prema is like, this way or that or another. But when it is good Prema, at once His Prema flows out upon you. That is why, if there is a doubt whether God's Prema has come upon us or not, we must wait; but there is no use in fancying like this, ‘I have Your Prema in plenty.’ So remember God at all times. Through chanting the Name, the form called the Named One comes to us.
