In plain words
The one who is born keeps on growing. The boy becomes a youth. The one who has become a youth will become an old man, and at last he gives up the body. He keeps on growing; he keeps on changing. But it is not the man's changing that matters. The mind must change. Only when the mind changes is there true change. The nation must change; morality must change. Only then will humanness change. The body is not what matters. The body is a negative. This body is made of the five elements. As the body grows, it keeps changing. A small matter. The body is inert. The body keeps on growing. You may think, if it is inert, how does it grow? It grows. If you sweep the house every day and keep throwing all the rubbish into a pit, after a month has passed the whole pit grows big. It is growing only because all the rubbish is thrown in. In the same way, as we keep putting idli, dosa and everything into our body, this too keeps on growing. This too is just like a rubbish heap. Its growth is nothing special. Food itself is its root cause. If it has grown, the cause of that is not the principle of life. Good qualities must grow. Only when there are good qualities can we achieve anything at all. So we must change our qualities. Man's mind must change. Only when the mind changes will the man change. If you ask how it is to come, through Prema for God the mind will surely become pure. Through this pure mind you will take part in sacred work. Through sacred works you will gain a sacred result. If you are to gain this sacred result, you must go on fostering a sacred heart. If there is no purity in the heart, everything goes to waste.
Embodiments of Prema! You must do bhajans; you must do dhyāna. You must do yoga. You must not give them up. Along with them, when the heart is pure, everything becomes pure. As it is said, “Brahmavit brahmaiva bhavati,” only when there is a divine feeling as well, along with the sādhanas you do, will the two become one and you will attain divinity. Man must not stay as man. Man must turn into God. Through the influence of the Kali age man is turning into an animal. Man is turning into a demon. Man is not turning into God. Only when he turns into God is his birth as a man fulfilled. You must put at least one or two of the things you have learnt into practice, give Ānanda with the right mind, and not only enjoy Ānanda yourselves but give this Ānanda to many others. Only then does it become true sacrifice. Through this sacrifice alone yoga is attained. Without yoga, disease comes. So sacrifice itself is yoga. Yoga itself is bhoga.
