Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

In all, humanness is the same. This shows itself as a true image of the power of Prakṛti. But these are only the marks of pravṛtti, not the marks of nivṛtti. This nivṛtti flows in all without form. That very thing is atomic energy. To nourish this physical power of Prakṛti, they have taught many kinds of paths in this atomic energy.

Vināyaka, Who Has No Leader

On this Vināyaka Caviti day, what are they offering to Vināyaka? All the things that are offered are things made without any cooking in oil, and these alone they offer to Vināyaka. They cook rice and make it into balls; inside those balls they put sesame that has been cooked, with jaggery added to it, and mixing it in rice flour they set it out as naivedya. Nowhere do you see any cooking in oil. For this very reason, when Vighneśvara's festival comes, they make kuḍumulu and uṇḍrāḷḷu. They are things not cooked in oil. If you inquire what the result of this is: things not cooked in oil are digested very quickly. Sesame lessens vāta, pitta, śleṣma and the like. Jaggery greatly develops the powers of the eyes. All of them are prasāda made only for the sake of health, not prasāda made for the sake of naivedya. It purifies the atomic energy that is this body by the power of these foods and so develops a long span of life. Vināyaka's intelligence is very great. Many people delight when they see Vināyaka. That form itself looks wonderful and strange. A big belly, a fine trunk. Eyes that draw you, good ears. But why did they give Him an elephant's head? The elephant's intelligence is great. Among animals it has a very large body. No animal has a body as large as the elephant's. The elephant has a footprint big enough to cover even the footprint of the lion, the king of beasts. No other animal has its intelligence. Not only this: this elephant is a guide for all men. When anyone has to go through the forests, no one at all can easily make his way among the bushes and among the trees.
