In plain words
We must make our thoughts, words and deeds, all three, one. We have lost this unity within us. Unity is to be seen in no one. In every person there is some hatred or other. This very hatred is destroying man in every way. To drive hatred away, we must develop friendship with God. Where is our dwelling? People name a house, a hotel, a hostel. No, no. A hotel is not our dwelling. A house is not our dwelling. A hostel is not the dwelling. What is our dwelling? The heart is the dwelling. We are forgetting the holy Friend who dwells in such a heart. The whole world is itself a book. Read it well. This itself is your guru. Nature is the best teacher. In this world many things worth knowing are to be seen. God is not to be found in a book, or in some other sādhana. We keep reading books all the time. But what we gain through these books is nothing but doubts; nothing right is to be found there. The greater the intellect, the greater the power of doubt that arises. The world itself is our book. God alone is our friend. Prema itself is our home. Compassion itself is our sādhana. Only when we read with compassion, only when we do our sādhanas with compassion, does God, the divine embodiment of Prema, become visible to us. God is not to be found in these books. Merely reading books, reading and reading, in the end a man turns into a book himself. Do not make yourself into a book. What is in this book has come only from the head.
The Eye of Prema
Embodiments of Prema! From ancient times our Bhārata has taught along many paths of faith in God, and has been giving peace and security to all countries. That is why the people of Bhārata today, too: Lokās samastā sukhino bhavantu. They wish that the whole world should be happy, that it should become a world full of happiness. So we must wish for the Śānti of the nation. We must love the prosperity of the nation. Whatever work we do, we must live with concern for the nation.
