In plain words

Here he went on working in our institute hostel. Through this he carried not only the responsibility for the hostel, but went on growing spiritually day by day and teaching the students. Why am I telling you all this? Only to let you know that all the people of those days took up great sacrifice, and that it is by the very sacrifice they made that there is so much progress. The Veda too has declared, “Not by action, not by progeny, not by wealth; by sacrifice some have attained immortality.” Sacrifice is needed. Only when the leaders work first will the students, or the followers, enter into it. You will have read in the Bhagavad Gītā: “O Pārtha, in the three worlds there is no duty at all for Me.” You see! ‘In these three worlds there is no work I need to do. I have no need of any work. I alone am the Master of everything; I Myself am doing everything. I Myself am getting it done. I Myself am doing it, I Myself am watching it. What work is there that I have to do? Why, then, am I working like this? From the time I rise at dawn until I lie down at night, I do many kinds of work with this body. That is, seeing the elders, the children become eager to enter into work. The elders must work in order to show the children the ideal. This is the very purpose of My Avatāra,’ Śrī Kṛṣṇa said. All the marks of the Avatāra are of exactly this kind: He does things Himself and shows them to others. When people say, ‘Swami, grant us some message,’ I say, ‘My life is My message.’ From the time I rise at dawn until I lie down at night, I go on and on working. What work? It is all nothing but the devotees' work. There is no work of Mine at all. Looking through the letters handed in, giving interviews to those who come and talking with them, giving joy to those who are worried, removing the sorrows of those who grieve. This is the difference between the nature of the Avatāra and the nature of the worldly. Wiping away tears, bringing on tears. Which tears does He bring on, which tears does He stop? He brings on the weeping that weeps for Swami. He wipes away the tears that are shed for the world.

O little Sai, embodiment of pure awareness, who wipes away tears and brings on tears; O Sai Baba, Saccidānanda, who makes people mad and takes madness away.
