In plain words
Were we born only for these four? Is this our purpose? No, no. For what was the body born? ‘Śarīramādyaṃ khalu dharmasādhanaṃ.’ It was born to follow Dharma. What is our dharma? You must recognise your own Satya yourself. You must believe the person before you to be God. You must regard the whole world as the temple of God. Whatever work you do, you must believe it to be God's work. You must regard all actions as done to please God. You must believe every word you speak to be a mantra. You must regard every step as a pradakṣiṇa. Man, who ought to live with such sacred feelings, today leads an impure life and wastes his life through cravings to acquire something or other. What is he acquiring? Nothing at all. What is life? Jīvitaṃ. Jī-vi-ta. These three have gone. Only the zero at the end is left to us. Are we to live for this zero? No, you must become a hero. The hero is right beside the zero. If you put a one on the left side of this zero, it becomes 10. If you put another zero beside it, it becomes 100. Put one more zero and it is 1000. So, keeping the hero as our goal, put my body, my Buddhi, my citta, my senses, my antaḥkaraṇa, all these, as zeros, as many as you like. Hero becomes zero if he forgets God. Once he has forgotten God he becomes a zero; he is no hero. We must take the hero as our foundation. The whole world is only a zero. The whole of life is only a zero. The whole sky is only a zero. The sun, the moon and the rest are only zeros. All things are only zeros. The zeros shine only because of the hero. So first of all we must try to recognise our life. We must enter into service. To whom are you doing service? You must not think you are doing it for somebody else. You yourself are doing it for yourself. You worship God. Why do you worship Him? You worship for your own satisfaction. The bhajans you do, the pūjās you do, the dhyāna you do, the japa you do: none of them is for God's sake. All this you do for your own satisfaction. God has no need of any of these. God needs only one thing. Know yourself. Only then will you have known Me. Confidence in you. Confidence in God. This is the secret of greatness. We must recognise this greatness.
