In plain words

We must believe aham to be God's son of Prema. The son of the Ātma; the mind, the grandson; the great-grandson: such are mind and speech. Only when we develop this kind of close kinship do man's senses, man's life and man's conduct become sacred. But today control of the senses has become very hard. Because modern education today has grown, because cleverness has increased, because knowledge has grown still further, man is becoming wholly subject to his senses. He cannot learn the way and the means to restrain the mind. That is why man lives in fear and dread from moment to moment. Where does this fear come from? Fear enters us only when there are faults. If there are no faults at all, fear has no room at all. So they have forgotten the relationship and the kinship. They have forgotten, ‘My mind is the grandson of God.’ They have forgotten, ‘My speech is the great-grandson of God.’ They have forgotten the truth, ‘My aham is none other than the son of God.’ Only because they take such wrong paths does fear close round them and subject them to sorrows of many kinds. Through this knowledge that keeps growing day by day, humanness is becoming wholly polluted. In the end man is living artificially. In everything it is nothing but artificial. From the food we eat even to the water we drink, it is nothing but artificial. What of food and drink alone? These five elements are turning into artificial five elements. Everything is becoming polluted. Through this pollution the mind is becoming polluted. Human life itself is becoming polluted. On the other side, science keeps on growing. Because of it we think we are increasing our knowledge so much. But as much as science grows, so much do the senses dwindle. We rejoice, thinking science has grown, but no one is able to recognise how much the divinity in our humanness is dwindling.
