In plain words
Swami Who Never Breaks His Word
You must understand Swami's example to some extent. Once I have said, even a single time, ‘You are Mine,’ I never break that word. Even if he becomes My enemy, I do not forget him. He may hate Me, but I have no hatred for him. Not one who could be called My enemy is to be seen anywhere in the world. There is no one at all I dislike. So I keep faithfully the promise I have given. My step goes only forward; I never set it back. I keep stepping forward in order to protect them. In no circumstances do I step back. But in such a situation, even though Swami thinks of them as ‘Mine,’ such people fall into many hardships and losses. When one is His own, why should these hardships come to them? Why should they fall into these sufferings of theirs? Why should they sink in sorrow? Some may ask this. This is not My fault. I am carrying out faithfully the promise I have given. Then what is the reason these sufferings come? The root cause of these sufferings is simply that he has broken the promise he himself gave. Because he breaks his own word, because he changes his own purity, because he develops his own impurity, he falls into these sorrows and hardships. Other than that, Swami never brings hardship through the promise He gives. Till the very end I am right behind you, right in your home, right at your side.
Many do not try to recognise such a truth. They do not inquire what the root cause of their hardships, losses and sorrows is. The root cause of this is nothing but their changes of heart. Their wavering mind is the very root cause of it. The root cause is simply that they forget, without gratitude. A boy said it:
God Himself is far nearer than a mother, much closer than a father.
