In plain words
You long to see God, but because your faith is not firm, you are unable to recognise this principle of Satya. So, for everything, faith is first of all very necessary.
Lacking the very two eyes called faith, men on earth have gone blind.
When there is no faith at all, what can you experience? First of all, faith is needed. That is the very foundation. That very thing is self confidence. Only when there is that foundation called self confidence can you build the wall called self satisfaction. Only when you put up this wall called self satisfaction can you build the roof called self sacrifice. When you lay this roof called self sacrifice, the life called self realisation lives there. Without a roof, no one lives in a house, do they? Without a wall you cannot lay a roof, can you? Without a foundation no one builds a wall, do they? So, for everything, a foundation is very necessary. That self confidence, what is called faith, must be there. Without faith, what is the use of having any number of things?
For men who cannot enjoy happiness, what fruit is there, however much they have? The dog that laps the water, however much water flows, gains no joy from it: so with the miser.
Today people are great misers. Not even a trace of sacrifice is seen in them. They act as though they had Prema. But they themselves do not recognise that they have Prema. Our Vice Chancellor said, ‘thousands of mothers love’. But how will those who cannot recognise one mother love recognise thousand mothers love? Recognise the Prema of one mother. Add +, +, + to it and it becomes a thousand, it becomes millions.
