Passage 18

In plain words

All will be happy. All will be in Ānanda. No one will have any hardship at all. You must keep on giving that principle, full of immortality. With this very thing in view, the Upaniṣads declared, “Śṛṇvantu viśve amṛtasya putraḥ.” Being such a one, why should you become a son of untruth? You must uphold a worth that fits your name. All the ancient sādhakas went on living up to the meaning of their own names. Once Bhojarāja sent things to Tyāgarāja. He sent riches of many kinds and things to eat. He himself looked them over. ‘Does treasure bring great happiness? Does the presence of Īśvara bring great happiness? Tell me truly, O mind,’ he said. Is wealth what matters, or the presence of Īśvara! I do not need this worldly wealth. I must have the wealth of Īśvara alone. Rāma alone is my wealth. Service at His feet is my treasure. ‘I need nothing else; take it away,’ he said. Then they said: There is tyāga in you, true to your name. His name is Tyāgarāja. He took up the tyāga that fits his name. Had he taken those goods, he would have turned into Bhogarāja and Bhogarāja would have become Rogarāja. Disease is not wanted, enjoyment is not wanted. ‘Tyāga alone is life,’ he said. We must all live a life of tyāga. That itself is our enjoyment, that itself is heaven. Is there anything greater than tyāga? So, living lives of tyāga, without putting too much into earning money, you must do your karmas as far as you can, work at your jobs, and serve in many ways. Doing these jobs, live peacefully.
