Passage 14

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Why all this, to look for the faults of others? Why so many eyes? Search yourself; search out your own fault. Set your fault right. Only then will you be blessed, will you be holy.

Fill Your Heart with Prema

Embodiments of Prema! Above all, what you must foster is the principle of Prema alone. In that Prema itself Satya, Śānti, Dharma, everything is contained. Whatever work you do, do it with Prema. Whatever word you speak, speak it with Satya. Hold all this Satya within Prema. You must hold everything, Satya, within Prema. That itself is the worth of your life. Where do the human values dwell? In man himself. If we go searching somewhere outside for the values that are within us, we do not find them at all. Our whole heart is a great water tank. Fill this water tank full with the water called Prema. Sound, touch, form, taste, smell and the rest are the taps. If you fill this tank with the nectar of Prema, from every tap will come the nectar of Prema alone. If you fill your heart with the water of bad thoughts, bad qualities and bad deeds, from these taps will come nothing but bad feelings. This is just what they called ‘yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati’. So we must shape our feeling into the noblest feeling. We must perform our karmas as the noblest karmas. We must develop our resolves into the noblest resolves. Start the day with love. Fill the day with love. Spend the day with love. End the day with love. This is the way to God. These are the true human values. But today we speak to everyone of the human values. But in practice it appears empty. That is just what pains Me. You listen to so much; can you not put even one thing into practice? Instead of teaching others, practise it yourself and be happy. Instead of telling others, try to practise it. Without that, if we are spreading it about under a great name, this is not right.

Why ten acres of land that yields no crop? A little good land is enough.
