In plain words
But you remember, yes; are you practising? What use is there in remembering it in so many ways? Practise it. Yours is not in practice. You are only thinking of it in your mind. There is no gain merely in remembering the Name of Rāma. Rā is the Ātma. Ma means joining. When ma joins what is called the Ātma, it becomes Rāma. You remember the Name of Rāma, but follow Rāma's conduct.’ That is just why Hanumān said that day, ‘O Vibhīṣaṇa, there is no one else greater than you.’ The moment he heard this truth, he gave up his brothers Rāvaṇa and Kumbhakarṇa. He ran off and, crying ‘Rāma, Rāma,’ crossed the sea. Vibhīṣaṇa is far greater than Bhīṣma. Because Bhīṣma knew that what the Kauravas did was wrong. But he did not leave them. He did not teach them. He did not bring them onto the right path. But Vibhīṣaṇa taught his brother: ‘This is wrong; this must not be done.’ When they did not listen after he had taught them, he left them. He took refuge in Rāma. He fell at Rāma's feet. ‘I am Yours, I am Yours,’ he said. Lakṣmaṇa, Jāmbavān, all of them were there. ‘Lord! He is a demon. You must not trust demons. There is some selfish motive in his leaving his brother Rāvaṇa and coming to You. So send him back at once,’ he said. Then Rāma spoke.
‘“Whoever he may be, if once he says ‘I am Yours’, I will take him in My care”:
let anyone say what they will. He has come to Me as Mine. So I will not give him up in the least,’ He said. This very thing is the power of God's nectar of Grace. If you have said even once, ‘I am Yours,’ then live as one who is Yours. God is always right behind you, right beside you, right before your eyes, and keeps on protecting you. But that faith is not firm in you. This trust is most important.
Without the very two eyes of trust, men have gone blind on this earth today; if they themselves do not see Him, is there then no God? He is not there for them, but is He not there for us!
