In plain words
He was a great scholar. A man of great Jñāna, a great sādhaka, someone like a very great yogi. Such a man came here and served without payment. He did not touch even a single naya paisa. For every single thing, day and night alike, he looked after this institution as his own home, our institution. After he left, the government laid down some rules. After retirement, one may not stay more than two years. Well, we cannot but accept the government's rule. So it cannot be defied. After that, Sharaf came. He too was indeed a very great man. He was a member of the UGC. He too came here and worked three years. After he left, Hanumanthappa came. After this Hanumanthappa left, our Sampath came. He was a very great man. He had won a very great name at Kanpur University. He was very well known in computers. He too came here and worked with great care. None of these who came looked for even a single naya paisa. Even when I give, they do not take it. ‘We need nothing but Your grace,’ they said. Then Venkatraman came. This Venkatraman too worked day and night with great śraddhā and Bhakti. He is a disciple of Sir C. V. Raman. He himself studied rays of light thoroughly, all of them. By that very work he received the title Padma Shri. To look at, these men seem ordinary. Here in Prasanthi Nilayam everyone looks ordinary. But their real talent runs very deep. In our Prasanthi Nilayam, Venkatraman too has gone on living very simply. Even though his term of work was over, he said, ‘I will not go; I will stay right here.’ I am not sending him away. He too will stay right here. S. V. Giri came. He holds a very big post. To tell the truth, I am saying it today: he said he did not want the post. He is the Central Vigilance Commission, Chairman. The Prime Minister too said he must not leave now. All his colleagues said he could not go from there.
