In plain words
He still had 5 years of service left. When he wrote to the government, the Prime Minister did not sign. S. V. Giri held firm. ‘Sir, I have decided to go to Puttaparthi and stay; do what you will, I will not stay here,’ he said. Since Vajpayee too is a devotee of Swami, he told him: ‘If you were going to some other place, I would have stood in the way; but since you are going to Prasanthi Nilayam, I have no choice but to agree,’ he said. He signed on the second day itself. On the third day itself he set out and came. ‘I will not stay here,’ he had said, firmly. It is only through Prema of this kind, only through the faith placed in you, that all such Vice-Chancellors come to you.
Students! These Vice-Chancellors, pure of heart, whom no one else can find, are coming to you. From dawn till night they work with the children alone. No Vice-Chancellor in any university at all does this much work. They keep on working more than a professor. Make good use of such Vice-Chancellors. That such a chance has come to you is great good fortune. But for the Vice-Chancellor too, having such children is truly good fortune as well. The children too are very good. Such good children are not to be found. Only when Rāma's foot touched the stone that was Ahalyā was she released from her curse. Without children of good Buddhi, those Vice-Chancellors so rich in good conduct would not come to us. The students who set out from here must go not only to the whole of Bhārata but to every country too, proclaim this ideal, teach the real principle of education, and achieve the right kind of progress. You will surely achieve it. You are just such lamps. Only when we bring forth these lamps will the whole country enjoy a sacred radiance. You must become the best of citizens. You must become the uplifters of the Bhārata to come. Because Bhārata, in the circumstances it is in now, is sinking very low. So if you make progress, the country too will be the better for you. All the good and ill of the country, every bit, rests on man's conduct alone.
