In plain words
That itself is: Listen, all you children of immortality. You are a child of immortality, My dear. See that immortality for yourself. Attain that deathlessness. Attain the form of Ānanda. When such things are taught, why do you not try to take them in? You pray for passing clouds. These petty desires are not what matters. God is not somewhere far away. He is right in your heart. Body is the temple of God. God is right inside it. Step by step we must turn our sight to that truth. Only when you turn it this way will you understand the Ātma principle, which is divinity. When they bring water from somewhere far off to your house, you pay tax to the municipality. When they supply current from somewhere far off to your house, you pay current tax. Even when you build a house on your own land, you pay house tax to the municipality. God gives such a mighty wind. God lights the whole world with the light of the sun. He pours down torrents of rain. He gives pure air. You must think what tax you are paying for this. All of it you receive free. The tax for this is offering. Offering itself is the tax. This is the very tax we must pay to God.
My wealth, my wife and the rest, every burden, offered up; myself, what remains, my land: protect me, I take refuge.
Where did this family come from? Is it not you yourself who made it? Because you liked it, you married. Then children were born. The family grew large. Now if you say you cannot bear it any longer, who asked you to make all this grow? You yourself made it grow; God did not make it grow! What you yourself have made grow, you yourself must cut back. All your troubles are what you yourself have grown for yourself; they are not what God gave. God always gives only good. But you are not receiving this good.
