In plain words
How will it go? Merely by our uttering it in this physical way, Śānti does not come to us. If darkness is to go, we must light at least a small light. But if you want the darkness to go without lighting it, it will not go. However much you describe the lamp, the darkness does not leave us. There is no need to describe. Worship; offer. Only when you make this offering does it attain oneness. Dīpāvali is coming. Lighting one candle, you light all the lamps. The first is the one candle that is the support. That itself is divinity. Passing the flame on to each one is the principle of the jīva. The one divinity alone protects all these jīvas and lights them. All these are lamps of life. Any number of them will shine. Light the lamp of your Prema. There is nothing in the world brighter than this lamp of Prema. Is there Prema? Then everything is right there. So if you develop this principle of Prema, whatever worldly work you do, that too turns spiritual. Go to the office and work. Do business; there is nothing wrong in it. You must support your family. Doing all of it, regard every karma as done for the pleasure of God. Everything must be done for the pleasure of God. That alone is true Bhakti. It is that, and not the offering of physical things. Do not offer physical things to any god. Go wherever you like. Why do you do all this kind of disfiguring to God? You all know. Feeling somehow that they are devout, people go to Tirupati. They put big, big crowns on Him. They put on big, big armours. All these jewels disfigure the divinity. How much joy comes when you see the Natural image! With make up and more make up on it, it becomes like a cup. Wherever it may be, do not take jewels to God. Is God poorer than you? Why should you take them? This is how such a fellow's thinking all goes. You have a narrow mind, but God has a broad mind. God's is expansion love. Not contraction love. Offering jewels to God is a narrow feeling indeed. God does not wait for your jewels. By offering jewels to God this way, people spoil God's true form.
