In plain words

They will search out the whole of algebra, but cannot tell the size of their own house; every day they follow their drill, but it pains them to sit in padmāsana.

What is the use of doing this drill? They do drill. But they cannot sit in padmāsana. What is all this drill for? It is of no use at all. So we must show all that we do in our daily life.

Devotees, embodiments of Prema! These four days have passed for you like four minutes. Truly, what one must learn from you here is discipline. You have come from all countries. You have held functions of many kinds. Last year they came from China and celebrated New Year here. And they came from Andhra Pradesh and performed Pāda Pūjās. Still more come from many states and hold all sorts of functions here. But one thing makes Me happy. Those who came from Madras have been conducting their programme well, systematically. Their discipline too they have shown to be a most exemplary discipline. That Subrahmaṇya Shetty is a man of years. Yet though he is of such great age, all of them held to a single word and went on doing so much sādhana. For this there is no association, no meeting. Each of them brought it forth from his own heart, and they kept up one single discipline. Wherever you go, you must keep up this discipline. But the Madhura Pāda Pūjā Trust is working for good discipline. Not only here, but wherever you go, you must keep following this discipline. The chief aspects of the Sathya Sai Organisations are three. Devotion, duty, discipline. You must keep safe the principle of these three D's. You must do your duty. You must see to it that your devotion does not waver in the least. You see! Only when you follow the principle of the three 'D's well can you experience lasting Ānanda.
