Passage 14

In plain words

To lessen this moha, Vairāgya is very necessary. That itself is the container. Into it you must pour the oil called Prema. You may set in it the wick called one-pointedness of the citta. Then you can light it with the fire called the Jñāna of the tattva. When these two are done, the oil is spent and no wick remains. Bhadrācala Rāmadāsu told of this very thing.

The essence, that is the oil; Satya, that is the wick; when the light is spent and you go, no one comes along with you; what you labour at is the tree, what you hold on to is the branch; slip from the labour, let go of the hold, and you reach Parabrahman.

For this we lean on this Prakṛti. Prakṛti is not our support. Prakṛti has another support: that is divinity itself. When I first began our University, there were all these subjects, Chemistry, Physics, Botony. Of all the subjects, chemistry is the foundation. That itself is liquid. For this liquid to stay below, there has to be some vessel, does there not? That is precisely the science of chemistry. Because there is great heat, it stays as liquid. As it gradually comes up, the air and the atmosphere make it turn as though solid. That itself is Physics. Some insects settle on it. Through them, living beings begin. That itself is zoology and botany. The root cause of all of them is Chemistry. That liquid has a support. That is the very vessel called divinity. Without that vessel, no liquid can stay. So the support of everything is God alone. There is no support greater than Him. If we make God our support, everything will be fulfilled for us with ease. But man today, relying on his own cleverness and his own intellect, plunges into needless undertakings. However many years you make efforts of this kind, they are of no use. So first of all give up the material. Enter into the supreme. You will understand the real. Today the real itself is lying neglected in a corner. What is the reason? You have come to depend on the material. Because you are set on material things, you are forgetting the supreme.
