Passage 6

In plain words

The Śānti experienced in the outer world is no Śānti at all. To do sādhanas for the sake of this Śānti is great Ajñāna. God has given us five senses. These five are within us alone, not outside.”

He who has given in to the enemies within, how can he catch the foes outside?

Without catching what is inside, how can you master what is outside? First of all, you must bring under control the bad feelings, bad qualities and bad deeds that come from you. When we develop a good vision, only good feelings fill our hearts. So students must keep their looks pure.

When you change your vision, speech comes to its full growth of itself. We also gain the strength needed to keep speech under control. We must not talk too much. When words are too many, the compassion in our hearts wastes away. The heart is made of compassion. The heart is full of compassion. Compassion and kindness waste away through speech. You must keep your words under control. The less a man speaks, the longer the life he lives. Not only a long life. He earns a pure name. Among students there must be no fighting with one another, no abusing one another, no hurting one another at all. The reason is that God Himself is in everyone. You become one who has abused God. You become one who has reviled God. You become one who has hurt God. Everyone must recognise this divinity called conscience that is in all. We must also regard the consciousness all around us as sacred divinity. Inside there is positive. Outside there is negative. A close connection must be made between this negative and the positive. But the man of today has filled his heart to the brim with negative. There is no positive. How can such a man experience the divine Principle?
