In plain words
They welcomed Satya. They set Dharma in the palanquin. They took the vow of a sacred heroism. You must stand as reflections of the great heroes who developed so sacred a culture of Bhārata. You yourselves are the heirs of Bhārata. You must be ready to take the vow to restore the sacred Dharma-śāstra and to bring the country to well-being. For two hundred years they have gone on spreading a boundless science widely. But they did not give that science the sacredness that befits it. This science has given you only a material civilization. What the country needs today is an inner civilization. If human values perish in Bhārata itself, spirituality itself will perish. Moral values will wane away completely. If you discard human values themselves, harm will come to Dharma, together with wife, children and the rest. If human values themselves are discarded, the very ideal in your humanness will sink to the bottom. You must develop the faith that I have taken birth for the sake of protecting human values such as these. Keeping the welfare of society in view, keeping the well-being of the country in view, you must take the vow to develop a sacred humanness.
The people of Bhārata are deeply peaceable. From ancient times ‘forbearance’ has stood as the chief quality in the heart of the people of Bhārata. The great ṛṣis were born in this Bhārata and set out ideals of many kinds. When you once enquire into the sacred history of Bhārata, you will not find a single episode in which the people of Bhārata ever went out to invade without cause. So many came invading Bhārata and plundered the empire of Bhārata in so many ways. But the people of Bhārata did not go forward into such deeds at all. Their calm, their courtesy and their good character were the root cause of this. In such sacred people of Bhārata, divinity and purity stood as their two eyes. Enticing such a Bhārata in many ways, stirring up turmoil of many kinds and sowing the seeds called injustice, wrongdoing and misconduct, they created a kind of agitation in society, in its culture.
