In plain words
They raised quarrels in society; they set fires. Yet in so sacred a Bhārata, injustice, wrongdoing and misconduct were things the people of Bhārata did not know at all. The seeds called injustice, wrongdoing and misconduct, sown in this way in those days among the ever-truthful people of Bhārata, have grown today into a great tree, and today they give us the fruit called unrest.
Teaching and Spreading That Take the Form of Practice Are Most Necessary for Man
Education does not mean mere acquaintance with books. Teaching and spreading that take the form of practice are most necessary for man. We must pass on the learning we have studied along an ideal path. That is why:
Are all who have learned to read and write educated? Does one who has gained college degrees become educated? Is learning without true Jñāna and good deeds learning at all? If learning is only for making a living, do the beasts and birds not live?
Not only in Bhārata, but in any country there are many lakhs, crores, of educated people. But what kind of good have all these educated people been doing for their countries? What kind of help are they giving society? In what way are they developing the welfare of society? They are not. They are using this learning only for selfish ends, for their own gain.
Students, embodiments of Prema!
Give up this selfishness and self-interest, and take up the vow of living for others and doing good to others.
All the ever-true good deeds are turning into misdeeds; Nature, whose form is Praśānti, is leaving the people; the noble Vedic learning has sunk, evil learning grows.
