Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Patriotism full of sacrifice is needed. Not patriotism full of enjoyment. Devotion to God full of Prema must come. When these two arise, patriotism full of sacrifice and devotion to God full of Prema, your faith will surely grow.

Today there are doubts over every little thing. Look at any man today and he is suffering from a feeling of inferiority (depression). This depression is very great, through the influence of this Kali age. The day this depression goes, that day humanness will blossom in man. Depression over every little thing. The cause of this depression is your own weakness itself. You must not be weak. When you have self-confidence you are not weak at all. Only one who has no self-confidence is weak. Bhārata has stored away so much wealth for your sake. In Bhārata there is all the fortune you need. You are not trying to recognise this. What is this fortune? It is your fortune of sacrifice. It is the spiritual fortune. It is the fortune of working in society. This itself is your fortune. When such sacred fortune fills our Bhārata, why are you wasting time? You must not waste time. Every man's body is bound up with karma. ‘Karmānubandhīni manuṣyaloke.’ Our body has come only for the doing of karma. ‘Śarīram ādyaṃ khalu dharma-sādhanam.’ You must recognise this truth in the culture of Bhārata. But you are not recognising this truth. What has the body come for? Has it come only to eat, roam about and die? You must make this body worthwhile in making the many happy. To the very end you must help others, help them. This very thing, in our culture of Bhārata,

they called “Paropakāraḥ puṇyāya pāpāya parapīḍanam.”

Help ever, hurt never: that is its meaning.
