Passage 10

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Every action must be joined with morality. Man must enter into action making morality his ideal. That itself is moral wealth. When you take up morality, you can attain the worth of the name ‘sons of Bhārata’.

Embodiments of Prema! From ancient times it is Bhārata alone that has won a name true to its meaning, giving spiritual wealth even to land after land and practising the saying ‘Lokās samastā sukhino bhavantu’. You must begin such an ideal once again. You must go into every street, every quarter, every home. You must proclaim divine and new ideas in the world. You must develop unity. In any way at all, whether in word, in song or in play, you must work in unity. Each one must think of all as brothers. You must develop the brotherhood of man and fatherhood of God. Envy must not arise towards anyone. Look today, and there is envy in everything. Envy is a disease that has no cure. Our children must not fall prey to that disease. Has someone reviled us? Enjoy it with joy, as happiness itself. Regard that reviling as an ornament. You must not yield at all to reviling or praise, to scorn or honours.

Bhārata Must Take the Teacher's Place for the Whole World

Students! You must cultivate devotion to the guru and devotion to mother and father. The Vice-Chancellor spoke of it just before. ‘Mātṛdevobhava, pitṛdevobhava, ācāryadevobhava, atithidevobhava,’ they said. In the Taittirīya Upaniṣad, this is what the teachers taught, gathering all these students together at the time when, their studies done, they were going away to their own places.
