Passage 6

In plain words

You must acquire the strength to face everything.

‘Sukhaduḥkhe same kṛtvā lābhālābhau jayājayau’: pleasure and pain, both, are only natural to the world. Why should you dread what is natural? Why should you be afraid? You must face it. You must enquire what the reason is. What is the reason for this? If you recognise this reason well, there will be no room at all for changes of this kind, for these ups and downs. Truly, it is because human values are absent in man in every country that weakness arises. Above all, moral value has declined completely. It is because moral value has declined that this dhārmic value too has declined. There is neither morality nor honesty. There is no faith in Satya. There is no faith in Dharma. Faith in money has grown. When we have faith in Dharma, in justice, in morality, we need not set our faith on money. It comes of its own accord. Morality has gone completely. Money comes and goes; when? When there is no morality. When there is morality, money comes and grows. So, because there is no morality, money comes and goes. When you develop morality, money comes and grows. The root cause of money going without growing is just that morality and honesty have gone.

A Hero to Power, a Zero to Moral Values

Look in any field, look in any business, look in any seat of power: morality and honesty are nowhere to be found. A Hero to power, a zero to morality. Moral value does not grow through power. Power grows through moral value. Every man today is fighting for his right. What about responsibility? Responsibility nobody looks at. No bank manager, whoever he is, looks to his own responsibility. They abandon their responsibility. So when you go on carrying out your responsibility well, the right comes of its own accord. If you truly enquire well and look, no man has a right.
