In plain words
Embodiments of Prema! Every act you do has its reaction, resound, reflection. Sooner or later you have to experience them. Do not rejoice that you did some wrong today and got away with it. If not tomorrow, then the day after, its result will show. So do good deeds. Good results alone will come to you. But do not fall into despair because a good result did not come to you the moment you did a good deed. Be a little patient. For no human being is there any escape from the fruit of karma. Yet prayer helps somewhat to lessen bad results. Prayer means giving thanks to God. You must show gratitude in your actions. The sun moves far from the sight of the ungrateful. That is why they describe the sun as “Kṛtaghnaghnāya namaḥ.”
Forbearance Is Very Great
For man, the quality of forbearance is of very great importance. Forbearance is Satya. Forbearance is Dharma. Forbearance is the Veda. Forbearance is Ahiṃsā. In all the worlds there is nothing greater than forbearance. If anyone has done you harm, forgive them; think of it as Good for me. If anyone abuses you, enquire, “Did he abuse the body, or did he abuse the Ātma?” If he abuses your body, in a way he has done you a favour. For you yourselves revile the body, saying it is impermanent and made up of faeces, urine, foul smell, flesh and blood. If he abuses the Ātma, then since the Ātma in him and in you is one and the same, think that he has abused himself. What great forbearance this is! You must have such largeness of heart.
The Jīva Itself Is God
The guru is the one who drives away ignorance. What ignorance? He drives away the ignorance that says, ‘I am the body.’ The body is only an instrument. You should not take it to be the truth. God has had you take on a body in order to perform actions in this world. It is a gift of God's grace. “Deho devālaya prokto jīvo devassanātanaḥ”: the body itself is the temple; the jīva itself is God. So whatever body you see, salute it as the temple of God.
