Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

“Alas, this man says there is no God! Is He really there or not?” If you doubt in this way, you become weak. You must not give room to such weakness. “Nāyam ātmā balahīnena labhyaḥ.” A weak man cannot achieve anything at all. Even if the whole world unites to argue that there is no God, your faith must not waver. Your truth is yours, your faith is yours. Only when you have faith as firm as that will it be possible for you to spread human values. “Loko bhinna ruciḥ”: when heads are different, thoughts too are different. So do not mind whatever others say. Follow your own conscience. If you have no self-confidence, you become weak. Give no room to such weakness. Man is truly one who has courage and daring, not one who gives room to weakness.

Our organisations are very eager to develop education in human values and to spread it all over the world. Explain well, in a way others can understand, what you want to say. If they listen, they listen. If they go, they go. But you, for your part, see that you do not let go of your truth. Human values came from man himself; they are not coming from somewhere else. Their very name is human values. That is to say, they are in the human heart itself. You must bring them out. This is what has been called Educare. It is not something gained by reading books.

Heart, Word and Deed Must Become One

Students! Learned ones! Patrons of education! Lovers of education! If man forgets human values, the world itself will be destroyed. Human values are our very five life-breaths. The Sathya Sai organisations are working very hard to spread them. We must give them the enthusiasm and encouragement they deserve. You have come from many countries and taken part in this conference. Since you have come all that way to Prasanthi Nilayam, you must take something valuable with you from here. What is it you must take with you? It is Satya; it is Prema. When you go back to your country, if you say, “I have brought Satya and Prema with me from Prasanthi Nilayam,” your companions too will be very happy.
