In plain words
In goodness, in humanness, in right conduct, in full truth, only he who practises and shows it is the sādhaka: this is the plain truth I tell you!
Embodiments of Prema! Spectacles stand in front of the eyes. But they help the sight. In the same way, the troubles and losses that stand in the way of sādhakas only help their sādhana; they do not do the least harm. Sādhakas must grow such faith firmly.
As the fire, so the smoke; as the smoke, so the cloud. As the cloud, so the rain. As the rain, so the crop. As the crop, so the cooking. In the same way, as our feelings are, so too are the actions we do. As our actions are, just such fruit do we receive. When you throw a stone into a well, ripples begin where the stone falls and spread across the whole well. In the same way, when you throw the ‘stone’ called a resolve into the lake of your mind, the ‘ripples’ that begin from it spread through the body from the toe-nails to the crown of the head. As that resolve is, the eyes see just such sights; the ears hear just such sounds; the hands do just such deeds; the feet walk to just such places. When sacred feelings enter the heart, all the limbs do only sacred deeds. Only through sacred feelings does humanness find its fulfilment. So man, whatever idea comes to him, first of all: “Is this good or bad? Is this right or wrong?”: so he must inquire. Truly, man's mind is sweet, his heart is tender, time is sacred. So man's resolves, words and deeds too must be tender and sweet.
