In plain words
So we must conquer jealousy, anger and hatred with Prema, and cultivate calm. Only then will you become true devotees. To rejoice when praised and to hate when blamed is not good. We must keep an even mind towards both. We should not bear hatred towards people because they reviled us, nor foster friendship with them because they praised us. Blame, praise and scorn belong to their mouths, not to us. So do not bear hatred against anyone. See the good wherever it is, and take it; wherever the bad is, leave it without looking at it. However much blame, praise and scorn there may be, there is no one who can move Sai. Sai is the one who always stands in Satya. No one can move Satya in the least. Live with this kind of firm conviction; grow your faith in God day by day. When it grows, all this wickedness will be burnt to ashes. Keep safe in your hearts the things you have heard, and carry on with the sādhanas you are doing.
God dwells in every heart
Is it not precisely because they made Jesus suffer so much then that the whole world worships him today? Once a disciple asked Jesus, “Guruji! When troubles come to me, how am I to get rid of them?” In answer to this, Jesus: “Foolish one! Do you want to be rid of your troubles? Love the God who is in your heart. When you love everyone in this way, where will there be any sorrow for you? Your heart will be filled with Ānanda and with Prema,” he said.
This very thing Kṛṣṇa once taught Arjuna. When Arjuna asked, “Swami! Is there anyone who has a close bond with You?” Kṛṣṇa: “Foolish one! For Me there is no difference between those who are close and those who hate. I dwell in every heart. I am the one in your heart, and I am the one in the heart of those who revile Me. Only those who love God, who dwells in every heart, are dear to Me. Arjuna! Even after so long you have not understood this! You seated Me in your chariot, but you have not seated Me in your heart!” he said. Embodiments of Prema! Seat God in your heart.
