In plain words

Within happiness, sorrow has crept in; to part the two is in no one's power; whatever gives happiness gives sorrow; happiness and sorrow, both, are the sway of Kali.

Embodiments of Prema! The years go by, but good feelings are not growing in man. He alone is a man who has a good mind. The mark of a good mind is this: to make sacred one's speech, filled with radiance like the sun's and coolness like the moon's, and so bring peace to society. He alone is a man who is endowed with sacred qualities such as kindness, Prema, forbearance, sympathy and sacrifice. But in man today such good qualities are lacking. One who has lost his humanness cannot be a man. Man is a being who has come forth from nature. The earth pours in life, the sun bestows radiance, the trees make the air pure. Water quenches thirst. The wind gives oxygen. Man is born in these five elements and lives with the five elements as his support: why, then, do the qualities of the five elements not take root in him? Man, who has come forth from nature and lives in nature's lap, must follow the ideals nature sets. The trees give out pure oxygen and take the poisonous gas into themselves. Birds, beasts and trees, following nature and carrying out their duty, do the world great good. But, born as a man and bearing the name of man, why does he not put human qualities into practice? Man has lost the human qualities. That is why he is in no fit state either to practise them or to spread them. It is human values that lift man to the level of divinity. So man must develop human values in himself.
