In plain words
For the sake of a living, man falls prey to many delusions. Why suffer so many pains for a life that breaks in a moment? As long as you live, you must follow the path of Satya. Only then does humanness find its fulfilment. If, however long, you keep doing only deeds that pass away and are untrue, how can a Śānti that is eternal and true come to you? Only when you do deeds that are eternal and true does a Śānti that is eternal and true come.
Take notice of bad things, and they climb onto your head
If any bad things come near you, you must not give them your mind at all. If you give them your mind, they settle in you. If you take no notice of them, they go off on their own way. A small example: some relative of yours has come to the front of your house, carrying a suitcase. The moment he arrives, you go out to meet him: “Hello, sir! How are you?”: ask after his welfare like this, and that is enough; at once he walks into your house, box and all. If instead, when he comes to the door, you keep quiet and do not speak to him, he goes off to some lodge or hotel. Only if you greet him does he enter your house; otherwise he goes somewhere else. In the same way, if any bad things or bad feelings come to you, do not make friends with them: let them go, as though you had seen them and not seen them. They will go off wherever they have to go; they will not enter you. If instead you look at them, greet them with ‘Hello, hello…’ and make friends with them, they come and sit on your head. So you must not greet the bad at all, nor look at it, nor listen to it. That is true humanness.
You have built yourselves a house. You have put many doors in that house. Through them you let your relatives and friends come in, but you do not let in the donkeys and pigs going along the street, do you?
