In plain words
My hand always gives; it never takes. For Prema alone do I stretch out My hand. I have never had any desires of any kind. But no one understands this. Today a report came that the 600 crores of rupees I had in mind are coming from America on Monday. I asked no one, saying that I wanted it. Would anyone give hundreds of crores as a gift just for the asking? No one would. But one single person is giving these 600 crores. “Swami! Put this money in a fixed deposit. The moment it comes, pay it into the bank. It will reach You at 12 o'clock on Monday,” he let Me know.
Today there is no one who works in the spirit of sacrifice; but when one sets out to sacrifice, any number of crores will come. Bhārata is a holy land. It is a land of sacrifice, a land of yoga, and not a land of enjoyment. “Not by work, not by offspring, not by wealth; by sacrifice alone did some attain immortality”: only because the spirit of sacrifice is in us does everything we need come to us.
The honour and dignity of women must be upheld
I mean to do much, much more. These days, in newspapers and in films, shows that go against the culture of Bhārata are to be seen. How holy is the Dharma of the women of Bhārata! In our holy Bhārata many virtuous women have been born. There have been many women in our country with holy power, like Sāvitrī, who brought her dead husband back to life, and Sumati, who stopped the very sunrise to save her husband's life. But today people look on women with great contempt. That is very wrong, wrong, wrong. The prosperity of the country rests on women alone. So guard the honour and dignity of women. This alone is great learning. To gain some great degrees, go abroad and make money is not greatness. We must uphold our culture of Bhārata. From ancient times great honour has been given to women in Bhārata. But today in the papers and in films they show women very indecently; they are forgetting the culture of Bhārata altogether.
