Passage 6

In plain words

As long as you have this physical body, you must carry out your duty. This morning you worshipped the pādukās. How did these pādukās come to have such importance? In the body, what is below is the foot, what is above is the head. The head is very important. That is why people wear a crown on the head. If so precious a head wants to go anywhere, the feet must carry it there. The pādukās alone bear the head. Yet the chief support of all is the principle of the Ātma itself. Forgetting that principle of the Ātma, you depend on physical things. Delusion is the root cause of this. As long as there is delusion, Brahman is not reached.

Brahman means the One who is vast. So God's feelings too are vast, not narrow. But to a narrow vision even God's feelings appear only narrow. “As the feeling, so it becomes”: God's is a vast feeling, an infinite will. No one is able to understand this. Unable to understand it, people misunderstand it and forget what is true. Man today has made material things his support, not the supreme good. The supreme good alone is primary. Do not make worldly things your support. Yet as long as you are on this stage of the world's drama, you must play your part well. You must carry out your duties properly. As far as that goes, you may hold the world in your mind. If you truly believe in God, base and worldly feelings will not enter you at all.

The breath itself is the form of Īśvara

Embodiments of Prema! If first of all you grasp the principle of the five elements, divinity will be easy for you to understand. The five elements themselves are man's chief life-breaths. If even one of them is missing, there is no human life at all. Air is not seen by our eye, nor caught by the hand. Can you say, on that account, that there is no air? Without air, how could you live? That itself is your breath. As long as there is breath in the body, it is ‘Śivam’. When there is no breath, it is ‘śavam’. The breath itself is the form of Īśvara. Īśvara moves in everyone in the form of breath and protects them in every way.
