In plain words
What you must know first of all is this: God has no particular form. All forms are ones you have imagined. You think that God has four arms and bears the conch, the discus, the mace and the lotus. If God were really born with four arms, you would put Him in an exhibition. The conch is the emblem of Śabdabrahman, the discus of the wheel of time, the mace of strength, and the lotus of the lotus of the heart. God was given such a form only to make you recognise that all these are in His hands. Yet, of all forms, the human form is the most distinguished. Whatever is the best, whatever is sacred, whatever is the support of all: that you must believe in. You must put to good use the senses God has granted you. Only then will you be known as true human beings. A human being means one who is pure in thought, word and deed. What you have resolved, you must say; what you say, you must do.
With three leaves, in the shape of the three guṇas, three-eyed, three-weaponed, destroying the sins of three births: one bilva leaf, offered to Śiva.
Mind, word and deed: you must offer these three to God.
When God is beside you, why worry?
Though God is always in your home, at your side and with you, you go searching for God outside and waste time. You must not waste time. God is the form of Time. That is why you praise God, saying, “Salutation to Time, salutation to Him who humbles the pride of Time, salutation to Him beyond Time, salutation to Him by whom Time is held in check...”. When God, whose form is Time, is right beside you, why do you worry? First of all, recognise that divinity is not somewhere apart. Do sacred deeds, deeds that help others. “Hastasya bhūṣaṇaṃ dānaṃ, satyaṃ kaṇṭhasya bhūṣaṇaṃ”. Charity alone is the ornament of the hand; truth alone is the adornment of the throat. These are the very things dear to God. Only because he gives up such natural and precious ornaments does man fall into blame.
