In plain words
A newspaper has no smell of its own. When you wrap jasmine flowers in it, the paper spreads the scent of jasmine; when you wrap pakoḍās in it, it smells of pakoḍās; when you wrap fish in it, it smells of fish. The human heart is like a clean sheet of paper. Only when one nourishes pure feelings does the heart shine with pure compassion. But today the human heart is being stained by bad feelings and evil thoughts.
From ancient times the women of Bhārata have gone on achieving many great deeds through the purity of their hearts. “Sāvitrī, who brought back to life the husband whose life had gone: was she not a wife of Bhārata!” History has women who brought their dead husbands back to life, but no man is to be found who brought his dead wife back to life. The virtuous women of Bhārata have gone on giving many ideals from time without beginning. Today society is not taking the steps fit for the progress of women. In society there seems to be no room at all for good feelings and good deeds.
That is why, to foster pure feelings in women, the Women's wing was set up in the Sathya Sai organisations. Only when women are pure of heart will the world take on a pure form. Women are endowed with great power. If they set their minds to it, they can tie up the very world like a bundle. But men, unable to recognise the strength and ability of women, treat them like slaves; they strive for their own selfish ends and interests, but cannot acknowledge the good the world receives through women. That is why the country is falling into a wretched state. Society must recognise the strength and ability of women, give them fitting encouragement and support, and stand by them.
Parents themselves lead children astray
The heart of a woman is free of self-interest; it is filled with kindness and love. Women take great care in bringing up children.
