Passage 1

In plain words

She who brought back to life the husband whose life had gone, Sāvitrī: was she not a wife of Bhārata? She who by the power of her truth put out the forest fire, Candramatī: was she not a holy woman? She who leapt into the fire-pit for her honour as a chaste wife, Sītā: was she not the earth-born daughter of Bhārata? She who in her anger burned the arrogant hunter to ash, Damayantī: was she not a woman of Bhārata? This earth, encircled by an ocean of sattva, is made spotless by the wifely faith of the race of Bharata; for the wealth of noble feeling it is a great and fruitful field; is it not the teacher of all the lands!

Embodiments of Prema! In Bhārata, from time without beginning, women have led ideal lives and gone on bringing joy to the country. Woman means the very form of Prakṛti. Our ancient ṛṣis took Prakṛti itself as their basis and went on solving the problems of life. Today, wherever you look in the world, sorrow and unrest meet the eye. The reason for this is nothing but the want of men and women of pure heart. The good and ill of a country rest on nothing but the conduct of its men and women. Only when there are men and women of pure heart will the country live in plenty and well-being.
