In plain words
But the poor drink the dirty water of little pits and ruin their health. The waters of the Kṛṣṇā and the Godāvarī flow uselessly into the sea. So, however hard it may be, whatever it may cost, I am resolving to bring good water to Madras. Not only that. Rāyalasīma too is struggling with the problem of drinking water. Bellary, Anantapur, Cuddapah and Kurnool: these four are called BACKward districts. I hope to bring clean water to these four districts. This will surely come to pass; there is no doubt of it.
Man must develop firm faith. But man today has no faith at all. He has no trust even in himself. Then how can he trust God? “For want of the two eyes called trust, the people on earth have become blind.” Without faith, how can humanness blossom? A human being means one who has faith. Birth as a human being is hard to win. So do not misuse it: take part in work that helps others, and make it worthwhile.
Health and happiness come only from the right use of the senses
Do you know why you were given hands? To lift morsels of food to the mouth? No, no. To do work that helps others. Do you know why you were given a mouth? To speak words? No, no. To sing the praises of the God of gods, the Saviour of the afflicted. In this way, the five senses God has given must be used on the right path. This is the sādhana the Buddha did. He read many books; he met many elders and listened to their discourses. In the end he realised that, without the right use of the five senses God has given, however much sādhana one does there is no gain. With the eyes, we must see good sights. With the hands, we must do good deeds.
