Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

This is the chief service you must do today.

The chief values of the Sathya Sai Organisations

Remember the divinity that is in you. “Man me Rām, hāth me kām”: remember God in your mind, and do your work with your hands. Then all the actions you do will take shape as done for the pleasure of God. Take part in service with the feeling that it is God's, and keep on sharing your Prema with all. But today your faith in service is not growing. For so many years you have been listening to Swami's messages and doing service. But what have you gained? What have you come to know? First of all, there must be a change in your vision, in your words and in your conduct. You must develop right vision, right hearing and right speech. Only then can you attain Nirvāṇa. First of all, you must foster right vision. It is not enough to bow to God when you go to some temple or visit a holy place. You must recognise the truth that whomever you bow to, the bow reaches God. There is no body at all without God in it. God is the inner Ātma of all beings. To recognise this truth and live by it is man's first duty. Man listens to many teachings of Vedānta, reads many good books and goes round many holy places. But what is the use? His mind does not change even a little. He is turning into a man with a heart of stone. A heart like butter, a mind like moonlight, speech like honey: these are the chief values of the Sathya Sai Organisations. These are man's true ornaments.

To give up the animal and attain the divine: that is spirituality

Embodiments of Prema! How fortunate it is to have been granted humanness! It is the gift of God's grace, given as the fruit of the merit of many births. Do not misuse such humanness.
