In plain words
Help others as far as you can. The service you do must be worthwhile. Many of our old students are doing service in villages such as Brahmanapalli and Beedupalli. But how should service be done? It must be done with a pure feeling. “Sir! We have come to do service in your village. You too join us. We will come to your village once a month or once in two months. So if you watch us and learn, you can do service in your own village every day. Above all, keep your surroundings clean. Otherwise you and your children will fall prey to terrible diseases”: this is what you must tell them. Along with your surroundings, you must keep your heart pure too. Your resolves, your sight, your hearing, your speech and your actions: all five of these you must make pure. Only then will you attain sāyujya. The first is sālokya. The second is sāmīpya. The third is sārūpya. The fourth is sāyujya. That is, you can become one with the divine.
What was man born for?
A river flows a long way and at last joins the sea. “Nadīnāṃ sāgaro gatiḥ.” What was the river born for? Only to join the sea. In the same way, what was man born for? Not to enjoy pleasures in this world. He may enjoy as many of them as he likes. But in the end he must merge in God. Ask yourself: what has this life come for? Man came to see God, came to reach God, came to experience God. But man today does not see God, does not reach God, does not experience God. He thinks he was born to enjoy worldly pleasures. Human birth did not come for such base desires. It is sacred, it is divine, it is blessed. Such a birth must not be wasted.
