In plain words
In the Kali age, remembering the Name is the way to cross over
Students! Pilgrims! Sādhakas! Even if you cannot do any japa, any dhyāna or any sādhana, it does not matter; remember the Name. Do not take up sādhanas you do not understand. Take the easy path of remembering the Name, and make your lives worthwhile. In the Kṛta age dhyāna, in the Tretā age yajña, in the Dvāpara age worship, and in the Kali age remembering the Name: these have been named as the ways to cross over.
The Name of Hari, the Name of Hari, the Name of Hari alone; in Kali there is no other way, no other way, no other way at all.
So try to cross over by remembering the Name. To attain divinity there are nine paths of Bhakti.
Hearing, singing, remembering Viṣṇu, serving His feet, bowing, worship, servitude, friendship and the offering of oneself.
The paths may be many, but the goal is one. So reach the goal. Do not stray far from the goal by speaking ill of others and by taking paths opposed to Prema. Selfishness is very far from spirituality. So you must give up selfishness, love the good of others, and dedicate yourselves to divinity.
The kṣetras are many, but the Kṣetrajña is one
Today more than a thousand pilgrims from Shirdi, remembering the sacred Name and visiting many holy places on the way, have reached Prasanthi Nilayam. But you must recognise the truth that though the kṣetras may differ, the Kṣetrajña is one. The Teacher of the Gītā said, “Know Me also as the Kṣetrajña.” However many kṣetras you go round, first of all make the kṣetra of your heart pure. Cut down harsh words. Give up speaking ill of others. Leave off brooding on others and think of the Paramātma.
