In plain words
Do not sink into worldly sense desires and waste your time. From these you will not gain even an atom of joy.
“Kṛtaghnaghnāya namaḥ”
What man must have above all is gratitude. When the people of Bhārata perform the sūrya namaskāras, they say ‘Kṛtaghnaghnāya namaḥ’. What does it mean? The radiance of the sun is present in subtle form in man's eyes. When a man forgets the good others have done him and becomes ungrateful, the sun withdraws its radiance from that man's eyes. That is, one may say that he who has no gratitude is blind. So, whoever one may be, one must not forget the good others have done; one must show gratitude even at the risk of one's life. Though he receives so many benefits from God, man shows God not the least gratitude and leads a worldly life full of selfishness. How can such fools be men? What, in fact, does spirituality mean? You think that spirituality is remembering the Ātma. No, no. Spirituality is for man to root out the animality in him and transform his humanness into divinity. But, making no effort to transform his humanness into divinity, he is sinking into animality; he is forgetting the sacred spiritual principle; thinking that to celebrate festivals means only to cook pāyasam and eat it, he is wasting his time.
