Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Hṛdayam does not mean the physical heart. The all-pervading principle of the Ātma itself is the Hṛdayam. So we must keep the heart pure. How? A small example: do we keep the valuables we have where thieves can reach them? We do not, do we! But today you leave valuable jewels such as compassion, Prema and forbearance with the thief called the mind. If you leave valuable jewels with a thief, you will neither get hold of them nor keep them. You must set the heart over those valuables as their owner.

The man who takes the mind as his support falls, sinking lower than a beast; the wise one who takes the Buddhi as his support becomes Paśupati: so said Parti Sai.

The mind keeps moving without a pause. So you must not follow the mind. Because you lean on the mind, even your sādhanas go lame. Take Prema and Satya as your support. Only then will Śānti come to you.

I will surely come to Kerala

The two Kerala ministers (who spoke earlier) are asking Swami to come to their state. This time I will surely come to Kerala. From this year on, there are chances for Kerala to advance in the fields of science and technology. They say that only the states of Andhra and Karnataka have gone ahead in these, but Kerala too will become very great. Very soon Kerala will set an example in every field. From time beyond reckoning Kerala has made shine the ideal “Speak Satya, follow Dharma”, the chief ideal of the culture of Bhārata. The rains begin first of all in Kerala itself. In everything Kerala is foremost. Could such a place fail to be dear to God?
