In plain words

Leaving such Dharma, how could we live?” So thinking, Yama too set out on the journey along with Dharmaja. Going on some distance in this way, the two of them reached the world of Yama. There all who had committed sins were suffering terrible torments. Seeing those sights, Dharmarāja felt great sorrow. Each and every thing is bound to happen according to karma. Dharmaja never told a lie in his life. But once, in the Mahābhārata war, he told one small lie, “Aśvatthāmā hataḥ kuñjaraḥ”. Even that was not a lie. He said “kuñjaraḥ” softly, so that no one could hear. What he meant by saying so was that an elephant named “Aśvatthāmā” had died. But Droṇācārya, hearing the words “Aśvatthāmā hataḥ”, thought that his son had died, and he too gave up his life. In this way, for this small lie that Dharmarāja told, he had to stay a while in this world of Yama. As soon as Dharmarāja entered the world of Yama, all those suffering torments there saw him and said, ‘Joy! Joy!’ “Swami! By your darśan, by your touch, by your coming in, all our torments are gone,” they said. Just then Yamadharmarāja came there and, praising Dharmaja's virtues: “Satya joined with yama and niyama is your very form. That Satya itself is the form of Dharma,” he said, and sent him to heaven.

Satyān nāsti paro dharmaḥ

No one knows that the forms of Satya and Dharma are so great, so mighty. Through Satya itself they have achieved everything. So when we take up such Satya, when we follow Satya, no suffering at all will come to us in any circumstances.

Students! In many kinds of problems it will come about that you have to tell untruths. But do not tell any untruth at all. Even if a situation comes in which you would lose your life, you must speak only the truth. “Satyān nāsti paro dharmaḥ,” it has been said. There is no Dharma higher than Satya. Set your whole life on the path of Satya alone. Restore the greatness of the land of Bhārata through the vow of Satya.
