In plain words
The student believes the father's words completely. The next day he sits in the college garden and writes a letter to God, praying for help. “O God! My father said that You are present wherever one looks. If You are everywhere, why should You not give me Your darśan? I want to become a doctor. But I have no money to pay the fee. Take pity on me and see that I get a doctor's degree...” Just as he finishes writing the letter this way, the bell rings. Thinking it is time for class, he gets up in a hurry and goes off. In that hurry the letter he wrote to God slips out of his book and falls to the ground. A little later a virtuous rich man comes there. He picks up the letter and reads it. At the bottom is the student's name. At once he meets the principal of the college and pays at one go the whole fee the student has to pay. But he asks that the matter of who paid the fee be kept secret until the student has finished his studies. The next day the principal calls the student: “My son! Do not worry at all. The fee you had to pay reached me yesterday itself,” he says. The student is greatly astonished. When he asks who paid, the principal says, “Not now; I will tell you after you complete your degree.” The student studies hard and completes his doctor's degree. His friends, congratulating him, say, “Now you can become a great doctor and earn money in plenty.” Then he: “I studied this course only to serve, not for money. I studied free. In the same way I will serve everyone free. I will dedicate my life to the service of society,” he says. Educated people who embody such sacrifice are very rare in the world today.
Those who think of God with true faith, who worship Him, who have self-confidence, can achieve any great task at any time. But today, “Without the two eyes called faith, people on earth have become blind.”
