In plain words
At times telling the truth may bring about danger. In such a situation, do not tell the truth, and do not tell an untruth either; keep silent. Through silence every task is accomplished. Do not be afraid that telling the truth may cause harm. Do not be afraid, ‘If I tell an untruth, I may become a sinner.’ In such a situation keep silent; stay beyond both truth and untruth. As far as you can, set your life on the path of Satya. Some people: “Swami! When we want to come for Your birthday festival, we cannot get leave. So we will take ‘sick leave’ and come,” they said. “That is not good. It is good even if you do not come; but do not tell an untruth,” I said. Practise the vow of Satya. Through the vow of Satya the Lord of all will reveal Himself to you. Through the vow of Satya we must attain divinity. Through prayers we must attain purity. If we are to develop the principle of Jñāna, prayer is essential. That itself is “Annaṃ Brahma raso Viṣṇuḥ bhoktā devo Maheśvaraḥ”; what more is needed than this? This prayer needs no toil at all.
Students! Since you are young, Start early, drive slowly and reach safely. At this young age itself you must begin spiritual sādhana. Only then will your life be fulfilled.
For Me every day is a festival!
I have never wished to celebrate My birthday festival. Many devotees wished to arrange many programmes, and asked to be permitted. I turned them all down. Today, since people have come in great numbers, even this much had to be arranged. Otherwise I have no wish at all to have all this held. I have no desire to celebrate this festival. For Me every day is a festival. I am ever in Ānanda. Ānanda is not something others give Me. I do not wait for an Ānanda that others give. Ānanda is within Me.
