Feeling envy at the sight of good people, carrying tales about these to those and about those to these… When I see such evil feelings, I feel great disgust. With great Prema and a sacred feeling, they start service organisations in Swami's name. They set up Seva Samitis and bhajan groups, and do ‘social work’. But if there is no Prema in your heart, what use is it? Love is God. Live in Love. You must foster the principle of Prema. To Me work is not the chief thing; character itself matters very much. So see that your minds do not stray onto a wrong path. Wherever you may be, whatever work you may be doing, your qualities must be sacred. Envy is very evil. Jealousy is living death. An envious man is no better than a living corpse.
You must give the name ‘Sathya Sai’ the respect it deserves
Some people carry words from here to there and from there to here. What have other people's words to do with you? Why should you revile others? Revile the bad qualities in yourselves; throw your evil feelings away. Why invent faults in others that they do not have, and spread them about? No matter how many ways one says it, some show no change. Envy, hatred… What use is it that people with such evil minds live on? Through them others too are spoilt. I will not so much as look at those who have such bad qualities. Whatever you want, I will give you. If need be, I am ready to give even My life. But first of all, put bad qualities far from you. Taking the name of divine organisations and doing demonic deeds is not good. Whatever the organisation, once it has taken Swami's name, it must follow the path of Satya. You must give the name ‘Sathya Sai’ the respect it deserves. If you take the name ‘Sathya Sai’ and do not speak the truth, what use is it? When you nourish them with Prema, following Satya and Dharma, organisations grow beyond measure. You worship God saying, “Satyadharmaparāyaṇāya namaḥ, Satyasvarūpāya namaḥ, Premasvarūpāya namaḥ…”, do you not!
