In plain words

The principle of Prema is divinity

Students! From this tender age, spiritual thinking must begin in you. What you should seek is one thing alone, and that is true Ānanda. You must keep to one word, have one sight, be absorbed in one action. True Ānanda is one, true sight is one, true action is one, true experience is one. This is what we regard as satsaṅga. However long you enjoy these material experiences, you will not gain true Ānanda. Only with God will you gain Ānanda that is eternal and true. If you leave God and follow the world, sunk in delusion, what you will gain is unrest! However many kinds of business you do, however many actions you perform, all of them are things that change. What does not change is one alone. To that, Vedānta has given the name ‘Ātma’. “The one Ātma is the inner Ātma of all beings.” The bulbs differ, but the current is one. Even so, bodies differ, but the Ātma in all is one. Recognising this truth, you must give up attachment to the body. But in man today such a broad outlook is missing. If man wants to join divinity, he must turn into the embodiment of Prema. Divinity and the principle of Prema cannot be two separate things. The principle of Prema is divinity. It is because such divinity is in humanness that it is said, ‘Of all creatures, birth as a human being is hard to win’.

One must learn the secret of the goal

Man today enquires about his birth, but he makes no effort to search for his goal. It is not knowing the secret of birth that matters; one must learn the secret of the goal. What is our goal? Satya is our goal. That is the principle of the Ātma. Man, without searching for his goal, is trying to redeem his birth. However many births he takes, this cannot be done. Śaṅkara said:
